Underneath their feedback bodies, the BMW X4 M and X4 M competition are both packing real muscle. These hot rods are coming to these dealerships to take their place between the rest of brand’s performance, including the latest X3 M, that arrives around a similar time.

Engines, Handling, and Ride

Both of the models come with a turbocharged inline-6, standard all-wheel drive, and an 8-speed auto transmission. The BMW X4 M’s engine will be tuned to produce 473hp, but the competition model gets dialed up to 503.

The final BMW X4 tested and, M40i version, made the leap from 0 to 60mph in just 4.2 seconds, so we hope these M models to break the 4 seconds mark. They will have to if they wish to keep up the Mercedes AMG GLC63; that beast blasted from 0 to 60mph in just 3.5 seconds.

The BMW X4’s driving character is already quite sharp, but the M division’s returning of the delay is certain to tighten things up even more—we will know more when we obtain a chance behind the wheel.

Interior & Technology

The BMW X4 M has not officially debuted, we hope the cabin to arrive looking as-deep-as the standard models, racier interior trim, sport seats, and more copious standard features are likely additions. The sloped roofline does not intrude into rear seat passenger area as-much-as expected, and most average passengers height will find the rear seat to be way comfortable. Touch display infotainment with navigation is possible to be standard, as is a list of driver-support technology, including automatic emergency braking.

Safety

Aside from the line of safety of functions it carries over from the stock BMW X4, the M model relies on a series of driver support and autonomous ecosystems, grouped in packages, and meant to create the job of driver smooth. The functions to be made available via this package include blind spot detection,
pedestrian warning, departure warning, and cross traffic alert. The of the utilization of the M X-drive ecosystem, the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) and active differential let for enhanced stability and traction.

Gadgets

The most vital change in terms of gadgetry is the adding of an M-specific device cluster that relays back to the driver info about the auto’s performances. Also, gearshift paddles on the steering wheel create for a different X4 model. As with all BMW versions, the BMW X4 M will make complete use of the company’s Linked Drive navigation package, one that can optionally be improved with the fitting on a head-up screen.
